Tatsfield in Bloom (TIB) Report for THS Committee Meeting 12th October 2021

Tatsfield in Bloom Report for THS Committee Meeting 12th October 2021

The big news is that Tatsfield was awarded a Gold for our efforts this year, we were pipped at the post by Limpsfield (again!!) who were the overall winners in the Large Village category. This is a considerable achievement given the circumstances and a great credit to the team.

The Organising Committee decided that we should obtain our plants from a more local supplier to support local businesses, less road miles travelled etc. The TIB team had a meeting with Coblands Nurseries and agreed terms to buy our autumn bedding plants from their Sundridge nursery. The plants arrived last Saturday, and the planting started with the containers around the Village Hall completed, we are pleased with the quality of the plants and are hoping to complete the planting by next weekend.

At our last meeting, the Organising Committee took the very difficult decision not to enter the South and Southeast in Bloom Competition in 2022. This is due mainly to the much reduced number of volunteers making it very difficult to keep up with the many tasks to keep the village looking at its best. We will concentrate on providing the floral displays next year.

We will be meeting soon to plan our themes and planting schemes for next year, and set a budget. Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be one of our aims, in particular to plant Tatsfield seedling trees. We are aiming to plant the Bakery Lawn flower bed with herbaceous perennials to give floral interest from spring through the summer with emphasis on encouraging pollinating insects.
